Meyrick Lodge has won the Inter-Lodge Skittles Trophy after a thrilling encounter against Bourne Lodge.

Skipper Norman Reid put together an experienced team that he was confident could take on the red-hot favourites.

The match on July 15 at Kinson Masonic Hall was an eagerly awaited affair and the first leg was won by Meyrick with a difference of just four.

In the second leg Meyrick’s players knew they had won the trophy before Bourne’s last player had taken his turn.

It meant the trophy has now returned to Meyrick’s trophy cabinet where it last rested after the 2003/4 skittles competition.

Tournament organiser and Bourne’s skipper Graham Lees presented the trophy to Meyrick’s master elect, Ed Baker.

The competition raised almost £1,000 for charity.
