It is with much sadness and regret that I inform you of the passing to The Grand Lodge Above of W. Bro. Ernest Frank Short P.P.J.G.D. He was initiated into this Lodge on 1st Mach 1967, worked his way through all the Offices and was installed Master in October 1978. He served as Chaplain from 1980 until 1985 and was awarded the Provincial Rank of P.P.J.G.D. in 1987.
W. Bro. Ernie Short was a very regular attendee and with his wife Joan supported the social activities of the Lodge until age and failing health prevented him from doing so. He will always be remembered for his willingness to fill any Office at short notice and on many occasions filled in as Tyler. He was unstinting in his support to each new Master as they approached their Installation.
W. Bro. Ernie was made Honorary Member in December 2007 in recognition of his outstanding service to the Lodge.
A Service of Thanksgiving will be held at St. Luke’s Church, Burton, Christchurch, on Monday 6th April 2009 at 11.15am followed by cremation at Bournemouth Crematorium at 12.15pm. Family flowers only but donations to Prostate Cancer Research can be made to Funeral Directors, Miller Bros., 119, Bargates, Christchurch, BH23 1QH.
